Sakura Toba Visits Amorim Fine Violins

Amorim Fine Violins recently welcomed Sakura Toba, 14-year-old Japanese cellist who studies with Professor Mori (Toho Music School, Tokyo, Japan) and during the summer of 2018 and 2019 at the Siena Music Academy (Masterclass) with Professor Antonio Meneses.

Sakura currently loans the Miremont cello that was once owned by famous cellist Pierre Fournier.

Her cello was lacking projection and balance between strings, therefore during her visit, we made some adjustments to ensure it plays perfectly. Sakura and her Mother, pianist Yasuko Toba, were amazed by the results and said the cello had never sounded so good!

We were also very pleased that after trying one of our cellos, Sakura commissioned a new cello, a Luiz Amorim copy of Domenico Montagnana ‘Sleeping Beauty’.

Sakura can be seen in the video practicing a few notes after her cello was adjusted.
