About the Project
IL CANNONE GIRAMONDO
For the first time, some of the most famous violinists of our time gathered for a special project. They signed a precious violin, a modern copy of the violin that belonged to the great Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840). The copy was made by Luiz Amorim, here in our workshop Amorim Fine Violins in Cremona in 2021. It is a copy of Il Cannone by Guarneri ‘del Gesú’ exhibited at the Genoa City Hall, fulfilling the wishes of Paganini – to be forever preserved.
The first one to sign the violin was the ambassador of this project, Francesca Dego, she had just released a recording made with the original violin, in which she had the pleasure of creating a beautiful relationship with this violin. She came to the workshop in Cremona, played on it, watched Luiz open the violin, and gave it a go, being the first one to sign it. Later on, after the violin was fully signed, Francesca joined us in Genova, to play the copy side-by-side with the original.

Instituto Baccarelli
TEACHING MUSICAL EDUCATION IN THE BRAZILIAN FAVELA
The Instituto Baccarelli is a non-governmental organization that provides musical education to hundreds of kids and teenagers in poverty situations. They fight for a cause, a cause that deserves our attention and needs our support to keep transforming the lives of many vulnerable kids and teenagers from Brazil.
They live in favelas, where people lack access to basic needs and socioeconomic services, in a reality where music is not even a choice for their lives. But Instituto Baccarelli changes that through the educational power of art, contributes to social development and offers students the opportunity for musical professionalization. The Institute is in constant need of help and donations, but now with the pandemic, this is even more urgent since a significant part of the resources are now being redirected to acquiring food for the families.

THE TOTAL PRICE WAS DONATED TO THE INSTITUTE
This was the first time a work of art by Luiz Amorim was auctioned – and being for the benefit of a social cause and charity purposes brings even more importance to it. The sale was held by Tarisio, the leading international auction house for fine and rare stringed instruments and bows, on their Fall 2022 edition in Berlin. The instrument’s total price, including Tarisio’s Buyer’s Premium, was donated to Instituto Baccarelli to change the lives of more than 1200 children.
