Italian violin maker Giovanni Maria Valenzano, was born circa 1750 in Asti. Unlike many luthiers of his day, Valenzano lived and worked all over Europe before finally settling in Rome in the mid 1820s for the last few years of his life, where he made this violin. His work incorporates a wide variety of styles and his instruments are renowned for their skilful craftsmanship and tonal quality.
